so auto targeting is fail - why did anet waste resources on this junk instead of balancing the game...

its really bad when playing a caster such as a mes and you end up shaming a warrior...

Default Auto Targeting

I am with the crowd that wants a toggle for this new targeting system. I can see where some people (especially newer players) might like it, but personally I find it terrible.

Like others have said, using the wrong skill on the wrong monster because the previous one died is really annoying. In a way the new targeting system is MORE work because you have to play closer attention to what you are doing to make sure and not target the wrong monster/item.

Anet.. if you want to implement major changes to the game, go for it, but allow people to turn it off that are used to the old system.

sometimes its ok, most of the time its a royal pain in the backside....(I really didnt want to pick up that iboga blossom I dont have any more space for it---now I have to open my inventory and drop it yet again.)

Saw no need for its implementation while so many other things really need fixing.

GOOD!
I can't believe anyone would add things like this without a toggle.

Now can we pretty please get one of those little summaries to include a suggestion to toggle the unanimously hated first-person mouse wheel zoom delay discussed here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10161652

Or, for the love of God, just get rid of it altogether. NOBODY likes it.

I find it quite useful for Searing Flames-way. I like the function. :-)

I personally like the addition.

Removing it altogether is a waste of time and energy. Just add a toggle for the complaints and get it over with.

Blah auto targeting blows, I waste skills on the wrong things pretty often. If I wanna use signet of lost souls on someone and that someone dies in the process, I waste my signet at someone who is at 100% health instead.

I don't really care much for this update. The targeting system was fine before. Tab ftw? Yes, I thought so.

I'll just say that the auto targetting is nice for me. It prevents wasting time in auto-retargetting more often than it wastes skills on wrong targets. In my case, at least.

Thank you, Anet.

here's how great this new feature is:

doing HM Sanctum Cay. Nasty pack of undead chasing after the squishies. Someone kills one. My auto-target decides I need to pick up something that's not even assigned to me, so it breaks off my attack to do that.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaa??/w34345

edit: reading back a few pages, I just shake my head and wonder, what the hell is going on at anet? There is SUCH a disconnect between the players and the devs, with CR not even coming close to bridging the two. Why do we have this? Who thought this was a good idea? Why do we get poorly realized features like this together with the SS skill debacle? Who's running this show? Where's QA?

Auto targetting:
This is going to be bot heaven.
Anet is going to drive away all human players before GW2 comes out.
Leaving only bots before they close the servers.

What are skills for ? you want to use a specific skill on a specific target, if target is changed automaticly, and you still want to use the same skill, there is no meaning to the skill at all.

Please remove this ASAP

Honestly? I'm starting to wonder if we're in some sort of experiment phase for GW2.

We, of course, are the guinea pigs...

You should be able to disable it it causes some inconvenience as spells targetted to destroy enchants are now wasted on a autoselected guy that doesn't possibly even have enchants. With some skills this does not matter, but there are skill (with high recharge) that you do not want to waste on random targets.

(removed some mistakes, and I'm sorry if it can be disabled in options, didn't see it yet)

although looks nice if your a bot eh?

Well somtimes its annoying and there is no use for it in pvp, fells like a-net basicly said "ok, you need to grind a bit now but we made it a tad more brainless for you!!".Toggle would be nice .

I'm starting to get the hang of it, but it would be nice if you could override it by hitting c (thus setting up a default target order that the auto-target system would then follow, rather than always selecting the target in front of me). That way when I know which targets are where in my target list, the auto target system wouldn't screw up my order for me.

So:
- enter combat with free-floating target. can be useful and even fun in some situations
- deciding I need to 'organize' combat a little more, I hit "c". now I have a fixed list that I either have to tab through normally, or at least the auto-target system cycles through that list in order as targets go down instead of hopping around randomly. (come to think of it, I'm not clear on how this is working now. guess I should mess with it some more)

Unconditional love for not having to target NPCs though. Much appreciated.

Auto-targeting sucks. I'm a ranger that uses needling shot a lot, and it pisses me off constantly when my skill is disabled because my current target gets killed by someone else mid-needle and I end up hitting some random thing with >50% health.

Anet - please slap some life into your QA department.

COMPLETE CRAP. The cancel target button is FUGLY. If I'm doing an assassin combo, and the target dies before Twisting Fangs, I waste my Twisting Fangs on another target. I look like a total idiot, and it's not even my fault! GET RID OF IT.

should be able to turn it off, and that dam [X] button for targets too, looks liek deep wound sometimes
but it does make life heavan for warriors and paragons...just not for other caster class's

C + Tab + Space bar = FTW

tho, i do desire a ez'r/cheaper way to shuffle thro targets, or even shuffle thro party targets (but thats kinda cheating no?)

It screws me up a lot, like in a spike and the target dies between spells, the second spell I cast is wasted on another target. The energy would have been wasted anyway but the recharge is what I try to avoid.
